With illiteracy rates as high as 80% in many countries, and as high as 100% among a few people groups, SIM places great priority on making Bible translations available to people with no access to God's word. Because two-thirds of the world’s people rely on spoken, rather than written language for communication, it is important that they are reached through methods familiar to them, such as stories, parables, and music.
