This is as true in ministry as it is in the marketplace. There are many ways that "mission" can happen in a cross-cultural environment - phrases like "teams", "short term", "mid-term", and "long term" all seek to describe various approaches to missional engagement.
SIM historically has been committed to long term mission engagement, believing that the most effective way to have long-term Kingdom impact in a cross-cultural environment is through the establishment of a long-term relational presence in that cross-cultural environment (whenever possible). However, we don't view that understanding as being exclusive to other valid mission engagement strategies. We embrace the value of short-term individual and team engagements, because we know these approaches can also have significant missional impact, particularly when they are connected to ongoing long term efforts already underway.
As such, SIM USA has intentionally created both long term and short term opportunities for your church to get engaged in cross-cultural mission ministry. Whether it is short term teams or individuals from your congregation responding to a long term missional call, we want to be a resource for your church.
