Connections
SIM USA understands the value of short term mission trips. The goals for these mission engagements are threefold:
- To provide a significant experience for individuals and groups who are interested in short term missions to help them discover/discern their role in global missions – exposure, place of service, and spiritual growth.
- To provide resources of people, material, financial and prayer support to field ministries to enhance efforts in evangelism, church planting, Christian Education, work forces and service support ministries.
- To open the door for churches, schools, colleges, institutions, organizations, and other groups to develop an ongoing relationship and to partner with mission fields and SIM-related ministries.
Whether you are an individual considering God's calling on your life as a potential missionary, a college professor interested in planning a short term trip for members of your school, or a college student desiring to take a first step towards a lifetime of mission -- a short term engagement may be right for you.
We encourage you to talk with our School Teams Coordinator to explore options. Some general questions you will need to consider would be:
- Are you interested in a particular country or people?
- What level of cross-cultural training or experience do you have?
- When would you like to go and how long do you desire to stay?
- What type of ministry/service interests you?
- Does your group have specific skills or training?
- How many team members do you anticipate?
- Do you desire to lead a team?
- Have you considered time needed for orientation and pre-field training?
- How do you plan to finance your trip?
SIM USA can help you achieve your goals of cross-cultural ministry engagement. From providing necessary missional training, to coordination and planning your mission trip -- including travel, receipting for financial gifts, insurance, and planned service or ministry.
