Praise & Prayer

Posted on March 17, 2010

-JUDY HILL (Central African Republic) – Praise the Lord for making it possible for her to return to the ministry at BEST (Bangui Evangelical School of Theology) and contribute to the training of men and women who will serve the Lord. Pray for the student teachers to be good communicators and models and to grow in their teaching skills. Pray for the courses which need to be taught before the end of the school year in July and for many visiting professors to fit into the schedule.

-JEAN BAUMBACH (Niger) - Praise the Lord for good progress on the translation work. Pray as they work on Genesis 1-11 and for the testing of Ephesians. Pray for the students and teachers of the first class of the Fulani Ministry Training Center; the class will run through the end of April. Pray for a peaceful changeover of government and for fair elections to take place soon. Pray that God will continue to open hearts in Talgi to the Gospel.

-GIO & RACHAEL
(Asia) - As part of the Global Ministries focus, Gio has been invited to share in the two church services on Sunday, March 21, at a church in Pennsylvania. Pray there will be a good response to his challenge for missions.

-SIM ZAMBIA - Pray for the search for a new director for Zambia. Gilbert and Lydia Nigh have decided to not continue on for another term as director. Pray as they are seeking direction for their ministry after returning from Home Assignment in 2011. Pray also for upcoming board meetings, that the Lord will give wisdom and consensus in the plans for 2010.

-ALAN SHEA (USA/Liberia) – Praise the Lord for great progress on updating the electrical systems at ELWA. Besides replacing 21 transformers, the team has reworked a number of sections of the power line, replacing flaky aluminum and corroded galvanized guy wires with new copper lines. . . . Installation of a new radio mixer for the on-air studio is next on the agenda. Pray that this will be accomplished in the time the team has left in Liberia.

-BILL & STEPHANIE BLACK (Kenya) - Pray for Stephanie as she teaches her classes on 1 Corinthians and Intermediate Greek, and for Bill as he teaches Systematic Theology and Contemporary Theology at the Nairobi Evangelical Graduate School of Theology (NEGST). Pray for Stephanie’s travel to Zambia, March 15 - 17, for a staff meeting of the Accrediting Council for Theological Education in Africa (ACTEA). Stephanie serves as ACTEA accreditation officer.

-MYRON & ALICE LOSS (Uruguay) - Praise the Lord for a safe return to Uruguay following home assignment. Pray for projects that need to be completed in preparation for the youth camp beginning in April. Pray about a labor law suit regarding allegedly unpaid benefits for one construction worker. Pray that through this whole legal process, God would be glorified, Jesus’ name would be lifted up, and a fair solution would be reached.

-SAMUEL & BEATRICE PLOWMAN (Kenya) - They are in the US at this time to submit paperwork to the US Government related to immigration for Beatrice. Please pray that the government will quickly process Beatrice’s paperwork so that they will be able to go back to Kenya soon.

-BRUCE & MARY JOHNSON (SIM USA Director) - Pray for Bruce as he travels to Ethiopia and Kenya. Pray that he will have cultural sensitivity and a humble spirit as he is immersed into a new culture. Pray for wisdom for him and the team that is meeting to do a country review in Kenya. Pray they may have unity of heart though a diversity of viewpoints. Pray for good times of fellowship, spiritual alertness, and the ability to communicate and encourage the Kenyan leadership. Pray for Mary as she remains at home.

-KARIS BUSENITZ (Nigeria) – Praise the Lord for sustaining her through 1/3 of her time in Nigeria and for God’s peace and protection during the uncertainty of crises. Pray for wisdom in her new role with the girls’ ministry in a village. Pray for wisdom as they press in to present Christ with women in the chains of prostitution. Pray for God’s peace to fill the city and his light to shine bright to those still without hope.

-ANDY & LYNETTE TILLMAN
(Philippines) - Praise the Lord for the completion of the Acts video and that it passed the stringent quality control test. Pray that the mastering (in the USA) goes well. Pray that it will be ready to distribute for use within the next couple of months.
-TIM & KELLEY MALLOY (Nigeria) – Praise the Lord they have remained physically unharmed during current violence surrounding Jos. However, emotionally they are beginning to feel the effects of life under a prolonged and definitive threat. Pray that the Lord would uphold the Christian community in Jos at this time. The national church needs the guidance and presence of the Spirit of God to function as she should. And the missionaries need a fresh word that they are in the center of God’s will, exactly where he wants them for such a time as this.

-TRIPP AND ALISON JOHNSTON (Sports Friends) – Pray for two Sports Ministry Basic Training Conferences, lasting for four days each for up to 150 church leaders in two new areas of outreach in SE Asia. Please pray for safety and security for all involved in the training. Pray also that this training would fuel a movement within our partner church denomination for effective outreach to young people through sport.

-TOM & HEIDI JESSURUN (Nigeria) – The mission community is trying to promote a biblical response to persecution among Christians as their frustration grows in the face of recurring opposition. Heidi has been asked to distill material from several helpful sources into something useful for Sunday School lessons that address this sensitive area. This is a new area for Heidi and she needs your prayers this month as she uses her writing skills to promote peace and reconciliation among believers in the face of distressing events that affect so many lives.

-JON & JENNIFER MULLINEAUX (USA) – Praise the Lord for Jon’s recent encouraging visit with believers and missionaries. Pray for the growing interest among several local churches in specialized outreach to people groups here in this country who need Christ.

-DANIEL & LUCINDA KAHN (Ecuador) – Praise the Lord that people are growing and taking responsibility in Mollenpamba. Pray as they finish up a software project in radio and prepare the church for their home assignment in mid-July. Pray also for Lucinda as she helps with the English club program on Friday nights at the youth café.

-IAN & BEKA RIDEOUT (Niger) – Praise the Lord that after the last few years of hard work by staff and administration, Sahel Academy (school for missionary children from many countries) has been highly recommended for accreditation. Pray for strength and patience for current staff members as the hot season has arrived, and pray for a number of new teachers/staff needed for the 2010-2011 school year.
